LAURA – The Laura Literary Awards 2025 Book is available for sale and for the Laura Literary Awards 2026, please start your planning now – entries come due sooner than you think!

The book reading for September was “When All is Said” by Anne Griffin. The book reading for October is “Wsyward” by Emilia Hart.

Words chosen by members from their readings for the month were Colmetromania, Defenistration, Fantasmagoria, Propinquity, Peregrination, Abstruse, Proclivity, Eraminisia, Respair and Psephologist.

Quotes were “It hung in the air much in the way that bricks don’t”, “the greatest gifts you can give your children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence” and “tradition is not the worship of ashes but the preservation of fire”.

Rocky River ‘Riters’ meetings are in Gladstone the second Friday of every month. Please contact us for meeting information. Our next meeting will be on 14 November at 9.30am.

The creative writing meetings are on the fourth Saturday of each month at the Diocesan Hall in Gladstone. The next session will be Saturday, 22 November. Sessions run from 10am to 12 noon with shared lunch.
